Sky line High School teacher Steven Bretsch, charged with four class 6 felonies of taking indecent liberties with a child, was released on a $10,000 secured bond March 10. He was arrested March 7 at his Prince William County home and held without bond earlier.

Moseley Architects will seek bids for a 15 800 square foot police headquarters at Kendrick Lane and Monroe Avenue after funding is finalized. The building aims to meet needs through 2040 amid town growth.
Front Royal councilwoman Bébhinn Egger announced her resignation effective July 1 to marry and relocate. She has served since 2015 and says she will assist constituents for the next three months. If no replacement is appointed in four days, a Warren County Circuit Court judge could select her successor before her term ends December 31, 2018.
FRONT ROYAL on its first reading approved no change in real estate tax rates though some members favored a small increase to cover future costs. The current rate is 13 cents per 100 assessed value and must be advertised before a second vote to adopt for 2017 18. A public hearing considered 15 cents and last week’s session discussed 13.5 cents. a half cent would raise about $55 000.
Ressie Jeffries Elementary plans a fundraiser in the gym on March 25 from 8 to 11 am to raise about 119000 dollars for a new playground. Donors receive a doughnut and coffee, as the school phases in improvements while a 700000 dollar, 70 space parking lot is built nearby by Lantz Construction Winchester.
