Front Royal awards design for new Police HQ to Moseley Architects
Richmond based Moseley Architects chosen to design Front Royal Police Headquarters on Kendrick Lane for 489 606 dollars effective next month. The 20 000 square foot brick faced building with 60 foot tower will sit on 5 2 acres near Avtex site, cost about four million with one year design and another year to build. LEED certification not pursued due to cost.

Bridge projects still on schedule in Warren County
The Virginia Department of Transportation reports two Warren County bridges on schedule for completion. The South Fork Bridge replacement along corridor 522 is due near the end of 2017, with a total project cost of 72.2 million dollars including 4.9 million for preliminary engineering and 61.0 million for construction. Construction began in December 2013 to reduce congestion and improve safety for pedestrians and bicyclists.

Historic Wayside Inn Put Back On Market in Middletown
Middletown owners George and Becky Reeves say the 1797 Wayside Inn on Main Street is for sale again. The couple bought it at auction in 2013 for 750000, plus 805000 including commission, later adding a pavilion for 25000 and spending 250000 on repairs. Listing is 1.1 million with an assessed value around 1.2 million. the property contains four businesses, 22 guest rooms and bathrooms, a restaurant and bar, a wedding and conference venue, and a potential brew pub below the kitchen building.

Longtime D.J. Jim Lawrence remembered
Ivan Wise known as D.J. Jim Lawrence at WFTR 95.3 died June 14. Friends and former colleagues recall his 40 plus years in the Shenandoah Valley radio scene, his broadcasting lessons, and his career at WFTR in Front Royal. He studied broadcasting after Army discharge and started in radio early.
