Nine locals named in federal drug indictments
Front Royal residents are among 14 named in federal indictments tied to heroin trafficking in the Northwest Virginia region. Girl rescued after tubing incident on Shenandoah River
An 8 year old girl tubing with her family on the Shenandoah River near John Mosby Highway and Swift Shoals Road in Clarke County was pulled from the water after getting caught by the current. She was treated at Winchester Medical Center with non life threatening condition. Responding units included Clarke County Fire and EMS Warren County Fire and Rescue, Boyce and Clarke County Sheriff’s Office.

In Middletown two tractor trailers crashed on Interstate 81 south near exit 302. No serious injuries were reported as traffic backed up, with responders diverting to US 11 while diesel fuel was cleaned up and debris removed. Cause under investigation.
