Restored Locke's Mill resumes grinding for distillery
In Front Royal on May 26 Jon Joyce and his wife Carol celebrated Locke's Mill reopening after 18 years and a $500000 restoration. Five tons of rye and organic corn will feed Silverback Distillery in Afton, with grain sourced from Three Monkeys Farm and Stratford Hall. The mill now runs on water power, producing textured ground grain for whiskey while preserving 19th century machinery.
