County to hire fire volunteer recruiter in Warren County
Warren County will add a part time recruitment and retention coordinator for the fire and rescue department at about twenty thousand dollars a year. Fire Chief Mabie says the program aims to reverse shrinking volunteer numbers and improve tracking of volunteers and calls. The plan includes a six week Fire Academy beginning August 11 with limited sign ups this year.

Man charged in stabbing death of dog in Warren County
Rodney Lee Woodward faces a felony animal cruelty charge after a dog was stabbed 21 times and died in April near Whippoorwill Road. Deputies investigated after two men were injured in the incident and the case led to an arrest warrant issued July 13. Woodward is due in Warren County General District Court September 9.

Arrests in Darien Uncover 31 Street Signs from Warren County
Front Royal Police Department released details of an arrest in Darien tied to similar offenses. Officers recovered 31 street signs from a basement bedroom, 30 belonging to Warren County and valued at about 190 dollars each. Tristan A. Stone, 19, surrendered to RSW Regional Jail and faces one felony count of possession of stolen property. He posted a $5,000 unsecured bond. Mercado was transported to Rappahannock Shenandoah Warren Regional Jail with extradition hearing set in Warren County. Sensabaugh remains jailed with an Aug 4 extradition date and Sept 9 grand larceny and felony breaking and entering charges.
