Strasburg Veteran Donald Keller Reaches 100 With Community Celebration
Lifelong Strasburg resident and World War II Army veteran Donald Keller will turn 100 on Sunday, with a two day early party at McDonald’s. Keller, who served as a radio operator for combat engineers, earned two Purple Hearts and the French Legion of Honor for his Normandy invasion actions. He spent a post military career repairing radios and later working for FEMA, now visits McDonald’s daily for coffee and a free meal via a 2019 Gold Club card, and credits faith and staying away from smoking for his longevity.

Fewer drug offenses tied to Virginia marijuana law changes
Virginia's 2021 crime report shows a sharp drop in drug violations, with Warren and Shenandoah counties down 28 percent and statewide narcotics offenses falling 37 percent from 2020 to 2021. Officials credit July 2021 legalization of at home cannabis use and reduced probable cause for marijuana smells, amid ongoing enforcement and policing shifts.
