The Strasburg community gathered July 28, 2022 to honor a local veteran turning 100. Friends and neighbors joined the celebration at a community center, with attendees sharing memories and best wishes for the centenarian.

Authorities continue investigating the April death of 77 year old Ennis after a Warren County sheriff deputy tackled him during a traffic stop on Winchester Road. Autopsy results are pending beyond the usual eight to twelve week window. Ennis, who had dementia and had been reported in a Silver Alert, died April 15 under Blue Ridge Hospice care.
One man died and another was airlifted after a July 21 shooting at 225 Buzzard View Place Shenandoah. Suspect Scott Simandl, 47, was apprehended on scene and charged with murder, aggravated malicious wounding, and firearm offenses. Investigations ongoing.
The Commonwealth Transportation Board approved resolutions to name the U S 340 522 crossing as General Daniel Morgan Veterans Memorial Bridge and the South Fork span as Major General Joseph Warren Veterans Memorial Bridge. Warren County supervisors backed the request, with Pastor Larry Johnson leading the effort and planning a dedication after signs are delivered. The North Fork bridge honors local Revolutionary War fighters tied to Col. James Wood Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, noting Gen. Daniel Morgan’s actions near Mt. Hebron Cemetery and Massanutten Mountain.
A 2019 Economic Forensics & Analytics report shows Virginia’s wine industry and grape farming contributing about $1.78 billion to state economic activity, up from $1.37 billion in 2015. The sector supported 10,420 jobs and $398 million in wages, with 857 bonded wineries in 2019, and production reaching 1.97 million gallons.
