Shenandoah River State Park Buries Time Capsule Anniversary
The Shenandoah River State Park in Bentonville Virginia marks 25 years since opening in 1999 by burying a time capsule to be opened on June 19 2049. The park expanded from 900 acres to 1600 acres with a visitor center RV campground and cabins. The inaugural Blue Bell Festival drew 1200 visitors and new trails and a discovery center are planned.

centenarian WWII veteran Jack Einstein celebrated in Winchester
Jack Einstein, a Clear Brook resident and one of the last surviving World War II veterans in the Northern Shenandoah Valley, turned 100 at Mission BBQ in Winchester. About 20 friends attended and dozens of strangers offered congratulations as the store hosted a free lunch for Einstein, who worked at the Washington Navy Yard producing breach mechanisms and refurbishing weapons for ships damaged at Pearl Harbor.
