Front Royal-EDA swap targets town hall and Afton Inn

Front Royal officials announced a possible property swap with Afton Inn owner Frank Barros and the Front Royal Warren County Economic Development Authority. The deal would transfer the former Town Hall at 16 N. Royal Ave to Barros while the EDA takes ownership of the Afton Inn at 2 E. Main St. The plan aims to redevelop the 14,146 square foot, 1867 building on 24 acres, with no buyer or redevelopment details finalized.

Vision for town to guide future

Front Royal aims to become a vibrant historic destination with tourism appeal and high quality jobs. The plan emerged from a six month collaboration among residents, the planning commission, and Renaissance Planning Group as a prelude to updating the town’s comprehensive plan. Workshops in September and October plus online input shaped the draft vision for council review and a future public hearing.

A white male 5'9" to 5'11" with sandy hair reportedly distracted staff as he opened a cash drawer and stole cash and a wallet before fleeing on foot. Front Royal looks to 2014 with Leach Run Parkway and new police HQ

Mayor Tim Carr outlines major 2014 plans including design and build of Leach Run Parkway funded by a $6 million matching grant, plus a new police department headquarters.
