Gundalows return to honor vanished river history at Shenandoah
The Shenandoah area weighs a proposal to moor a Gundalow at the Visitors Center or Heritage Society museum to remind citizens of the historic cargo boats. Built up to 30 feet by 10 feet, Gundalows carried about 13 tons and required brawny pilots who navigated the river without GPS.

Goals to move HQ to Kendrick Lane and Monroe Avenue site
The council discussed moving the new town headquarters to the Kendrick Lane and Monroe Avenue intersection at the former Avtex site still in design. Without the extension, police heading downtown would travel Kendrick Lane to Virginia Avenue before turning south. The council also eyed reviving vacant properties including the 1867 Afton Inn next to the Town Administration Building on Main Street and Royal Avenue, owned by the Front Royal Warren County Economic Development Authority, vacant for years. Future meetings and work sessions will address these issues. There will be no work session Monday for Presidents Day. The next work session is 7 p.m. Tuesday at 102 E. Main St.
