Chairman bids farewell after 20 years on Warren County Board

Richard Traczyk thanked the Warren County Board of Supervisors for two decades of service after retiring as chairman. Elected in 2003, he helped push the capital improvement plan, new Samuels Library, Public Safety Building, and stadium renovations while maintaining a low tax rate. Fellow supervisors praised his mentorship and collaboration.

Leach Run Parkway Groundbreaking Planned for 2 PM

A 1.3 mile Leach Run Parkway groundbreaking ceremony is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday. The project links John Marshall Highway Va 55 with Happy Creek Road and is funded by the county and town. In Winchester the Social Security Office moves to 323 Hope Drive starting Monday Jan 11, with services at 629 Cedar Creek Grade Suite C 3 until 4 p.m. Jan 9.

School Board sketches six year plan for schools funding

Drescher laid out a six year funding plan to raise salaries to the regional average costing 2.8 million dollars and sustain infrastructure and tech upgrades at 5.4 million. He aims a one to one computing program and expanded career and technical access with 2.8 million more. Total cost about 11 million, phased over six years with 1.6 million then 610 thousand every other year. He met county supervisors who view the need as warranted and valuable for future returns.
