Former Warren County supervisor Tony F. Carter, 65, announces a bid for the Happy Creek District seat, challenging Cameron Williams for the GOP nomination. Carter cites support for Samuels Public Library and warns of tax increases or cuts to services if the current board remains. Primary is June 17 with early voting May 2 to June 14. Carter faces a 2028 drunken driving charge and scheduled May 6 court appearance.
Cameron Williams, age 20, seeks the Warren County Board of Supervisors nomination facing former supervisor Tony F. Carter in the June 17 primary. Early in person voting runs May 2 through June 14. Current supervisor Jerome K. Butler did not file. Williams has paralegal studies from Liberty University and is pursuing political science and economics at Christendom College. He serves on the Sixth District Republican Committee and on the board of St. Pauls Anglican Church in Front Royal. He has worked as campaign staff and notes support for greater county oversight of Samuels Public Library.
Emergency responders pulled a hiker from Fort Valley Veach Gap Trail after a 13 hour operation that began Saturday afternoon. Crews hiked five miles, reached the victim, and transported him by ambulance to Warren Memorial Hospital. A second recovery at Buzzard Rock Trail involved a free climber with leg injuries, lifted by Maryland State Police Aviation Command after a two mile approach in rugged terrain.
