The remains of a Maryland man missing since December were found Sunday in a wooded area near the Appalachian Trail entrance at Remount Road in Warren County. Sheriff’s officials released the information, noting the cause of death remains unknown.
Front Royal council discussed the proposed budget on Monday including new positions such as a town engineer and property enforcement roles, both full-time and part-time, as part of the first budget work session. The session also touched on community development agendas and employee raises.
Warren County residents may voice input on the proposed 105.6 million county budget and a 3 cent real estate tax increase. A public hearing on the budget and a 3.4 million shortfall options is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Warren County.
The Maroon Masques at Warren County High School stage Bridge to Terabithia tonight at 6 30 with a 30 member cast and crew. The children's show explores family, friendship, beliefs, imagination, ambition, and guilt. Additional performances are Friday at 6 30 and Saturday at 2 and 6 30. Tickets are 5 dollars for students and 7 dollars for adults.
FRONT ROYAL A Warren General District Court judge ruled Tuesday that 32 year old David Glynn Hoyle Jr. must undergo a competency evaluation before trial on first degree murder for the March 27 shooting of his 58 year old stepfather Warren Ramsey in the living room of their Grand Avenue home. The juvenile charged with second degree murder in Leah Marie Adams’s death is set to appear in court today. The April 6 hearing may shift pending final autopsy results, per Commonwealth's Attorney Brian Madden. The youth appeared March 27 in Warren County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court and was denied bond by Judge William W. Sharp. He remains at Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
A West Virginia man Curtis, 63, is slated to stand trial in Warren County Circuit Court for first degree murder in the December 2014 slaying of taxi driver Simon J. Funk Jr. The body was found wrapped in a comforter at a local Front Royal motel in the Shenanahapath Farms area. Curtis also faces attempted murder an armed felony charge and firearm possession.
The Ressie Jeffries Elementary School renovation and roof replacement in Warren County is progressing under a $3.1 million plan. Front roof completion could come as early as next week with Lantz Construction handling the sloped roof during the closure period, adding a new entrance and covering the cafeteria and library.
