An Eccentric Colored Man at the Minnesota Capitol
A profile of Owen Davis the colored janitor and special policeman at the Minnesota Capitol. He served in the Union Army and on a Mississippi steamboat where he learned street fighting skills. He believes in moral law against unnecessary fighting and guards his superstitions, including a nightly ghost belief and three spits before basement hunts. He is a devout member of the colored Baptist Church and seen as a foundational figure in that community.
