The Republican county convention last Wednesday nominated a strong Brown County slate representing all sections. The ticket is described as the strongest ever fielded in Brown County and is expected to secure the entire party vote in November. Some disappointed aspirants are noted but unity remains high.
The Brown county Republican convention met in Aberdeen on Wednesday with delegates from all precincts. J Q A Braden opened the session. J I Barnes was elected temporary chairman. Nominees were selected by acclamation for treasurer H S Williams, sheriff J L Cherry, auditor S C Hedger, superintendent C J C Macleod, judge J R Berve or E Bacon, and district attorney E T Taubman, with Taubman acclaimed unopposed.
C B H Pleasants nominates A J Pierce of Rudolph and the motion is carried by acclamation for the caucus. W J Evens of Groton and E D Rumrey of Cambria are nominated for coroner. Rumrey withdraws and moves Evens by acclamation. C W Starling of Aberdeen News named chairman of the county central committee. The committee includes W A Moore Westport W S Agnew Groton Emmett Cole Columbia A Greeh Warner A E Pettingill Frederick S S B Mercer Mercer. The first commissioner district delegates nominate A G Fred Patric Shelby for commissioner.
Letters remaining uncalled at the Warner office include Beardsley Jerome Dunleavy Robert Drestler Herman Gremke Chas Lokken Gilbert Mueller Olmvier Millara Jennie Montague William and others. Persons calling for these letters should apply to P Kinearon P M.
Public notice states Peter Wood & Co. sold their blacksmith shop in Warner to August BE Berg who will take charge Monday October 4, 1886. Those owing Edmand Kraetsch are urged to settle by October 10, 1886 to save costs. Warner. October 2, 1886.
An old physician claims a simple vegetable cure for consumption and lung ailments has cured thousands and offers the receipt free by mail in German French or English with full operating directions from W. A. Neves Rochester New York, sending stamp and paper name.
Final proof indicates publishing fee set at 4.25 dollars payable on receipt of affidavit.
