Reverend E H Midtbo Dies After Long Life of Service

The venerable Rev E H Midtbo died at home on Alice Street at 5 37 p m Sunday after a ten week illness. He was 66, survived by his wife and five children. He was a noted pastor in South Dakota Minnesota and surrounding states, influential in Lutheran mission work and church institutions. He preached widely and traveled extensively, leaving a lasting impact on the congregations he served.

Lars Tollefson Injured After Plow Lever Blow

Lars Tollefson, a Booth Prairie farmer, was badly injured Saturday afternoon when a plow lever struck his abdomen. He crawled home on hands and knees two miles, reaching at 11 p.m., then was taken to St. John's hospital in Minot after an operation. recovery believed possible.

Wilson Leases Royal Lunch in City

Earl B. Wilson has leased the Royal Lunch from Geo W Swords and will soon announce a name change. He dispensed with the cafeteria, continues the lunch counter, and patrons report a large increase in business during the first week. Wilson is known as a popular and thorough care man with no better place to eat in the city.

Wreck of the Maine to be inspected after cofferdam pumping

The Maine wreck will be exposed in Havana harbor as cofferdam water is pumped out in stages. Engineers will inspect the exposed area every five to six feet and remove any recovered bodies if found. No weakness in the cofferdam was seen at the time, and leakage appeared negligible.

Great Northern lays double track to Surrey

Great Northern puts six work trains on between Minot and Surrey and plans seven miles of double track. Great Northern Starts Work on Minot Cut-Off

Great Northern begins the Minot cutoff with a large force at Granville. The Fargo to Surrey line, seven miles east of here, will be completed this year shortening the route. About 35 miles of grading were finished last year before a funding lull halted progress. Trains are expected to run over the line before snow flies.

Fired Stanley Chief of Police Canned in Scandal

James Brown, Stanley's police chief, has been fired after an arrest by a United States marshal for pigging. He bonded in Fargo and was not in town last Monday.
