Commissioner Black Resigns and A J De Lance Appointed

County Commissioner William Black resigned citing business pressures. The board appointed A J De Lance of Ross to replace him, noting his solid record and past service as postmaster. De Lance will assume duties immediately as Black’s ranching duties keep him busy. Twenty seven words separate from the U C T convention note.

Norwegians at Grand Forks Celebrate Gala Day

Dr Moeller returns from Grand Forks where a large Norwegian celebration filled the opera house for two nights. He attended a dinner given by Norwegian consul Ben decke with guests including Sorlei and Dr Warloe of Chicago among others.

Gambling arrest leads to fine and confession

Deputy J W George arrested R A Roberts and another man in Ross for running a gambling room. Roberts confessed and paid the fine in Minot. Also noted are a presbytery meeting in Bottineau, a new Minot Commercial Club secretary, a Free Methodist camp starting July 4, and J E Ellsberry starting a dairy farm near the Ehrplace in Minot.

Death of John Cooper of Minot and Stanley Ranch

John Cooper eldest son of Mrs. J F Cooper died at his mother's home in this city Wednesday morning at 6 o clock after a lingering illness of tuberculosis of the bowels. He was born in Mount Forest Ontario thirty years ago. Funeral this afternoon at the family residence Rev Mr Lawrence officiating. Interment Rose Hill cemetery. He leaves his mother five sisters Lillie McConnell Dollie Laura and Alva and two brothers A N Cooper of Lansford and Willie who manages the Stanley ranch.

Fighting Bob LaFollette Attacks Trusts In North Dakota Talk

U S Senator Robert LaFollette of Wisconsin spoke at the Minot opera house Tuesday before a large crowd, denouncing railroads and major trusts. He urged pro labor and anti trust laws, noted independent elevators struggled against Armour interests, and pledged to spend funds on education material. The audience included University of Wisconsin alumni and local officials.

Willow City Big Fire Destroys Half the Businesses

Fire swept Willow City on Thursday destroying about fifteen business houses. Lazier butcher shop was the initial blaze and a swift breeze fanned it. Bottineau fire department, twenty miles away, arrived too late as the flames waned. Three general stores a hardware store two drug stores and two hotels were among the losses.

Milk wagon operator J W Winter & Son offers milk supply by phone or in person, while Henry Hecht reports 500 acres north of the city with favorable weather needed for full harvest. A property on Harrison Street lists three thousand dollars assessed value and sheriff John J. Lee notes 500 acres cultivated this year.

Grain Growers Convention Invites Minot Visitors

A Minot notice extends a welcome to visiting farmers and stockmen for the Grain Growers convention and Shorthorn stock sale. It invites callers to visit Jacosson and Fugello hardware, promising brief non business chat and acquainting them with the store. Slocum's Spring Fountain Opening Delights Town Crowd

The propitious weather aided a grand opening at Sleura's fountain. Carnations and roses contrasted with white marble while ice cream from Slocum's dairy drew crowds. An orchestra played under a cocoanut tree as waiters served steady streams of beverages and confections. The event ran from afternoon to midnight and was a marked success.
