Two thieves caught in act of robbing Pioneer store

Patrolman G. D. Peoples and Patrolman Bronson arrested Claude McParvid and R. J. McBride after they were seen breaking into the Pioneer store on North Main Street at 3 oclock Wednesday morning. The men fired at the officers, a bullet went through a counter, and they were seized in the basement. Police found a gunny sack, a keyhole saw, a sawed-off tool, and an iron bar. Webb, a local owner, and others linked the suspects to other daytime thefts including earlier warehouse robberies and stolen goods from J. B. Reed warehouse and Gamble Robinson. The case suggests involvement of more than one gang.
