Hospital Plan Turned Down By Gogebic Voters
Voters in Gogebic County endorsed Proposal No 1 to authorize building a county hospital but narrowly rejected Proposal No 2 to borrow up to 400000 for the project. Proposal 1 won 3433 to 2994 while Proposal 2 failed by four votes among property owners only 28 percent voted yes and 2898 no. turnout across the county was light with 32 percent absent. Ironwood areas supported both, while Bessemer Wakefield Marenisco and Watersmeet towns largely rejected them. Wakefield voters also rejected three county amendments on council pay board of review pay and budget allocations.

Funeral Services Held For Thomas Lane 62
Thomas Lane age 62 died Thursday at his daughter’s home in Northville after a brief illness. He was born March 20 1903 in Ironwood moved to Wakefield in 1913 and worked at the Sunday Lake Mine. Surviving include his wife two daughters four grandchildren a sister and seven brothers. Services were held at First Lutheran Church with burial at Lakeside Cemetery. Pallbearers were his seven brothers. Out of town attendees listed.

Ernest Bidwell a former Wakefield resident and Sheridan Michigan logger died Wednesday funeral Sunday. Surviving are his wife Hilda Maki and five children. Darrel Randall hosted a belated birthday party Tuesday night with cards and prizes for Mrs. Frank Berretto Mrs. James Randall and Mrs. Arnold Swanson.
