Third Annual Labor Day Picnic Of Wakefield Volunteer Fire Dept

The Wakefield Volunteer Fire Department held its Third Annual Labor Day Picnic at Eddy Park Sunday Lake. The chilly day drew families and spectators who enjoyed social games and refreshments. Big prize winners included Walter Bennetts for a colored TV, Zeno Zielinski for a shotgun, Tom Beber for a blender, and Duane Lane for a saber saw. appreciation was given to area businesses for prize contributions.

Northwestern nursing graduates honored at NMC ceremony

Jane Aho of Wakefield joined 21 other Northwestern Michigan College students honored Friday for completing the two year registered nursing program. She plans to join Munson Medical Center in Traverse City in ICU and CCU units. Wakefield travels to Houghton to play Sept. 10.

WSCS to Resume Activities at Wakefield UMC

The Women Society of Christian Service at Wakefield United Methodist Church will resume activities on Wednesday September 15 with a 6 00 PM potluck supper. Planning committee members include Anton Olson Richard Brown Zigmund Urbanski and others. Guest speaker Mrs Carl Maki will present Patterns and the church ladies quintet will perform.
