Wakefield sophomore Don Sawaski earned a varsity letter as Ferris State College totalled 30 letter winners for a 4 4 season against foes from five states under head coach Sam Ketchman. Sawaski is son of Mr and Mrs Harry Sawaski of 410 Eddy Street.

Funeral Services Held For Emil H Nelson
Emil H Nelson aged 75 died Thursday night at Copper County Sanatorium Hancock where he had been a patient for 18 months. Born December 2 1887 in Iron River he lived in Wakefield most of his life and worked for Gogebic County Road Commission until 1929 then as city laborer. He married Susan Strough in 1913 who died in 1962. Surviving are three sons Clarence Richard Lawrence of Chicago and three daughters Mrs Willis Johnson Yale Michigan Mrs Roy Tregembo Hibbing Minnesota and Mrs Walter Corda Chicago. Funeral at Lakeside Memorial Chapel with Rev Leonard Johnson. burial Lakeside Cemetery. Pallbearers Roy Bedell Leo Brennan Michael Oljeniczak Ed Johnson Joseph Sailer Ben Novak. Out of town relatives included Clarence Nelson Mrs Walter Corda Lawrence Nelson Richard Nelson Chicago Mr and Mrs Roy Tregembo Hibbing Minn and Mr and Mrs Willis Johnson Yale.

Christmas Fair To Be Held December 9
A Christmas Fair by the Parent Teacher Association features a program of Christmas songs directed by James Empey. Third Immunization Clinic To Be Held
The third Immunization Clinic of the current series will be held on December 4 from 1 30 to 2 30 pm in the Wakefield high school cafeteria. Services Monday At Pulaski For Fr Leander Stanek
The Rev. Leander Stanek OFM 44 longtime chaplain at Divine Infant Hospital died Thursday at the hospital. Born December 23 1918 in Chicago he studied at Sturdevant Wisconsin Green Bay and Philadelphia and was ordained June 5 1946. He taught in Sturdevant and Philadelphia before serving as hospital chaplain last year. He is survived by four brothers and two sisters. Funeral rites were held at Wakefield and burial followed at the Franciscan cemetery in Pulaski. The dead were remembered in special Masses by the local clergy and Sisters of Divine Infant Hospital.

Former Iron Mountain Resident Dies at 65
Mrs. Carmela Amirangiolo Fontecchio, 65, longtime Iron Mountain resident, died November 15 at Memorial Hospital after years of illness. Born October 6, 1898 in Capestrano, Italy, she immigrated in 1909 with her parents and sister Mary, married James V. Fontecchio in 1922, and had four daughters and three sons. Funeral services were held at Immaculate Conception Church with interment at Cemetery Park. the Italian Women's Club attended.
