Heavy Fire Destroys Hrbacek Home on Eddy Street
Extensive fire and water damage ruined the interior of the dwelling occupied by Mrs. George Hrbacek and family at 311 Eddy Street Tuesday morning. Fire crews were dispatched around 7:15 and had the blaze controlled by 8. It is believed to have started in the basement and spread upward after recent redecorating. Mrs. Hrbacek serves as deputy register of deeds in Bessemer.

New Well Near Wakefield Completes Testing Progress

Funeral rites set for Frank Webber 38 Verona man
Frank Webber 38 of Verona dies after a stroke in his car in front of the Verona post office. He died at Wakefield hospital about 1 a.m. Wednesday. Born in Bessemer on March 31 1911 he lived in Verona since 1933 working at Eureka and Anvil mines and a construction company. He is survived by a daughter Shirley Ann a brother John of Bessemer and two sisters Mrs Frank Cech of Bessemer and Mrs Anton Trigo of Hudson Ohio.

Air Mail Service to Begin on Range on December First
Gogebic county airport will start air mail service on or about December 1 as Wisconsin Central Airlines adds the area to its Chicago Milwaukee Green route. Civil Aeronautics Board approval is recorded, with snow removal and safety the main potential delays. The service will serve Houghton Hancock and Marquette, ending at Green Bay, Wisconsin, and includes Rhine lander and Duluth as part of the four state system.
