Mose Giansante 84 of 802 Pierce Street Wakefield was found Saturday afternoon four miles south of Wakefield near Chaney Lake Road. County Sheriff Chester J. Prebish said death attributed to gunshot and a post mortem planned in Duluth. Survivors include his widow two children and several grandchildren.

Immanuel Lutheran Church announces senior and children’s choirs practice times tonight and Tuesday. Worship services are Sunday at 10 45 a.m. with Sunday school at 9 a.m. Pastor Rev Walace Leno conducts service at Gogebic Medical Care Facility Sunday at 2 p.m. Thanksgiving worship is Wednesday at 7 30 p.m.
Service Officer from the Department of Michigan Veterans of Foreign Wars will interview veteran claimants at the Wakefield VFW clubrooms on November 20 between 1 and 2 p.m. The visit aims to assist veterans with claims and benefits.

George Berry 49 of Bessemer was found dead in his car in Open Pit Lake near Wakefield after the vehicle reportedly plunged through a fence and into about 30 feet of water. Autopsy planned in Duluth to determine cause and foul play potential. state and local police assisting investigation. Berry, born May 17, 1923, left a son and two daughters in East Jordan. funeral held in Bessemer.
The Rachel Guild of Immanuel Lutheran Church met in the church hall with Mrs. Alice Leno presiding. Devotions by Mrs. Astrid Sibley and Mrs. Janet Moil anen, discussion on Israel's Basic Sin, hymns sung with Mrs. Leno's piano. Bibles purchased for the fourth grade class were presented to students. A program is planned for Nov 27, Christmas party moved to Dec 12 with pot luck lunch and gift exchange. Proceeds from bake sale and white elephant sale go to the African Education Fund. Hostesses were Mrs. Ellen DelFavero and Mrs. Ruth Potter. Thanksgiving decor featured horns of plenty and tapers.
The Junior Luther League of the First Lutheran Church will hold a bowling party on Sunday meeting at the church at 5 p.m. Transportation to Ironwood will be provided. Members should bring money for bowling shoes and lunch. Wakefield plays Ontonagon Friday.
