Funeral services for Mrs. Fred K Brandt 77 of 209 Hancock St were held Friday at Lakeside Memorial Chapel with Rev James Lumsden officiating. Interment at Lakeside Cemetery. Born Lily Smith in England February 8 1889 she came to the United States at age 5. She married in Antigo Wisconsin in 1908 and moved to Wakefield in 1923. Surviving son Prof Harold K Brandt Las Vegas NM two grandchildren three brothers Albert and Earl Antigo and Thomas Shawano and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers listed final out of town relatives attended.

Cudahy Elected Gogebic Welfare Board Chairman in 1966
James J. Cudahy of Wakefield was chosen chairman of the Gogebic County Welfare Board on November 3 1966 succeeding Ralph Olson of Bessemer. Fred Tezak of Ironwood remains the other board member. Cudahy has served two years on the board including vice chairman and was appointed as a state appointee by Governor Romney two years ago. He owns the William Kuivinen Insurance Agency in Wakefield and is active with county state and national realtor associations. He is a Wakefield High School graduate and has worked for Detroit Northern & Loan Association General Motors King Sealy Singer Sewing Machine Ace Vacuum and other investment firms. He has led civic efforts in Wakefield and Gogebic County and has been president of the Wakefield Rotary Club and a stockholder in Big Powderhorn Mountain Ski Corporation.
