Mrs R J C Prout of Wakefield was re elected president of the Michigan state federation of Woman's clubs at the Detroit Book Cadillac meeting. Delegates approved an amendment to repeal state liquor laws and backed the eighteenth amendment with only six dissents. Officers and district directors were named, including Sears R McLean and W E Chapman, with a luncheon for the 100 pioneer clubs closing the program.

Two boys and three girls were born to Wakefield parents during the week. A son arrived for Mr. and Mrs. Matt Jurma on Saturday October 29. A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Haskins on Sunday at Wakefield hospital. Mr. Haskins runs the Wakefield Pharmacy. A daughter followed for Mr. and Mrs. Una Mattila on Sunday afternoon. Twin sons were born to Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Jurma on Wednesday morning, bringing the family to five children all under four.

Bessemer man dies after accidental shooting incident
Clarence Jacobson, 27, died at Grand View hospital after an accidental gun discharge in the Cisco lake region. His brother-in-law John Pingel carried him through woods overnight and sought aid, with infection and blood loss cited in the final death cause. Jacobson was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Jacobson of Colby location, Bessemer, and leaves two brothers and three sisters.

Fire damages Duffin home in Wakefield incident
An overheated stove exploded in the home of Fred Duffin a Wakefield school instructor and football figure Thursday evening. The blaze damaged furniture and interior. Two men saw the fire while passing by and alerted the fire hall. No one was home. the house lies north of the club house and is owned by A W Peterson of Iron Wood.
