Wakefield Council to Buy Substation and Upgrade Lines

Wakefield City Council voted to purchase a Lake Superior Power substation for 39174.13 and to install transmission lines to the industrial park at 27000. Up to 34000 in Economic Development Agency funds may cover part of the project, with remainder financed by revenue bonds. Eight city workers protested pay docking and vehicle conditions, while hiring delays for a head mechanic prompted union questions.

1974 VFW Auxiliary Membership Banquet in Wakefield

The Wakefield VFW Auxiliary plans a 1974 membership banquet at the post home on Saturday November 3. Paid up members enter free. guests pay a small fee with a paying member. City Council Absent Voter Ballot Applications Open

Applications are available at the city clerk's office for the general election on Tuesday November 6 1973. The clerk's office stays open until 2:00 p.m. Saturday November 3 polls run 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on election day. Halloween Party Highlights Wakefield Legion Auxiliary Meeting

The Wakefield American Legion Auxiliary hosted a Halloween dress up party at the Post Home on River Street. Members in costume enjoyed a guessing game with diverse characters and plans included gifts for Iron Mountain Veterans Hospital, a Muscular Dystrophy Association diploma placement, and a Christmas project with the Chamber of Commerce.

Former Wakefield Resident Dies in Seattle Washington

Anold J. Rintamaki aged 67 of Seattle born April 29 1906 died October 24 in a Seattle hospital. He lived in Wakefield and worked in local mines before moving to Seattle in 1945 where he was a longshoreman until retirement. Survived by his widow three daughters and two sisters. Services will be held at.
