Polly Haskins Dies Trusted Matriarch of Haskins Family
Polly Alice Haskins 92 passed Friday at the home of her son Henry W. Haskins after months of care. Born September 4, 1848 in Thamesville Canada she moved to Michigan as a child and settled in Saranac. Survived by seven of ten children including Myrtle Boardman and sons James Burt Alec John Henry Grover, 30 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday at the Methodist church in Saranac with Rev. Frank Loomis officiating. Burial followed in Saranac Cemetery beside her husband Freemen Haskins.

Wakefield mine finished its 1940 season with total ore shipments of 210000 tons. The facility has met contract obligations, is stockpiling for next year, and expanding stockpile space near the current grounds.
