State May Value Real Property
George Lord, chairman of the state tax commission, warned the board of supervisors that unless county assessors raise property values to full cash value, the state would revalue all taxable property at the county’s expense, about 20000 over three years. He cited underassessment of bank stocks, homes, and investment properties, and said mining properties are currently assessed at full cash value. He also warned timber holders the same, detailing expected timber values and potential cruiser appraisals paid by taxpayers. The afternoon session addressed timber holdings and included a list of proposed timber values for the county.
