To select ASTR men candidates, a nation wide qualifying test will be held on April 12 at all high schools and colleges. Complete information on the program will be issued in a few days from 3656th Service Unit, Army Service Forces, stationed at Michigan Tech.

One Killed One Captured Week War Toll

S gt Joe Miskovich aged 31 was killed in action in Italy on February 24. He served as a ski trooper and lived on Chaney Lake Road with his mother Mrs Amanda Miskovich. He was born April 1 1914 in Wakefield and a Wakefield High School graduate in 1933. He leaves his mother five brothers and three sisters residing in England Eveleth Chicago and Chicago area. Sgt William Luoma is missing in Belgium since December 19 and is a prisoner of war. His wife Mrs Ann Ribich and his parents Mr and Mrs Oscar Luoma were advised by the War Department. Pfc Charles Goodnow Verona wears the Order of the Purple Heart for a leg wound sustained in the South Pacific after serving since March 1943. He is in hospital receiving treatment for a shell fragment wound.

United National Clothing Collection Committee led by Henry J. Kaiser calls for used clothing and shoes from locals for distribution to destitute war torn regions. Andrew F. City given land and contract OK'd

The city commission approved purchase of 24 acres of land from Lake Superior District Power Co adjoining the east burial grounds for one dollar. An extension of the light and power contract to March 1, 1950 was also approved. The city plans cemetery expansion and street extensions on US 2 near Sunday Lake. The motion passed unanimously with four votes.

Methodist Church Sunday Service and Choir Plan
