Carp River by Ben East on a Michigan wilderness voyage
The group travels along a cliff rim above the Carp River near Lake of the Clouds. They note beaver dams, deer yards, and abundance of wildlife including wolves bears ravens and pileated woodpeckers. They fish trout unsuccessfully and measure ancient trees including an 18 foot 6 inch elm and an 11 foot cedar notch showing growth. the scenery is described as a timber cathedral.
