Two Dedications Planned for Ottawa National Forest
June 26 marks two ceremonies in the Ottawa National Forest. Senator Philip Hart will dedicate the Sylvania Visitor Center at Watersmeet at 10 45 AM with Congressman Philip Ruppe and other officials in attendance. A second dedication follows at Camp Filibert Roth on Golden Lake near Iron River featuring University of Michigan figures and Hart.

Environmental studies on water problems expand nationwide
M H Kirby of the Lake Superior District Power Company reports that more than 400 environmental studies on water problems have been completed or are underway by investor owned electric utilities. The Edison Electric Institute notes many focus on water temperatures and aquatic life with college and university collaboration. EEI runs a $1.3 million cooling water discharge program with Johns Hopkins University, while LSDP studies are conducted by the University of Wisconsin via the Wisconsin Utilities Association. Two recent studies include ecological responses of lake fishes to heated inflows and heat utilization to counteract eutrophication, due for completion in 1971.

Lake Superior District seeks peak shaving plant at Park Falls
LSDP applied to Wisconsin Public Service Commission for authority to build a peak shaving facility in Park Falls Wisconsin to raise daily gas distribution capacity by 6995 MCF. The plant targets meeting five year residential and small commercial growth as Northern Natural Gas co is at capacity. Project cost about 3000000. Alfred Lee retires as LSDP Safety Director after ten years at Ashland home 622 MacArthur Ave with plans for travel.
