Odd Fellows Lodge Officials Meet in Wakefield Ceremony

Wakefield Odd Fellows hosts Michigan and Wisconsin delegates for a grand meeting at the Community Building. Ishpeming Ahmeek Lodge No. 150 will confer the First Degree on about 30 candidates, with a dedicated degree team orchestra and choir. The event includes an open Rebekah gathering, a lawn concert by Wakefield City Band, and a large guest turnout from Ironwood to Ashland.

Connor Co Mill Resumes Activity After Shutdown

Connor Lumber and Land Co in Connor ville resumed mill yard work after a three week shutdown. About 80 men returned on Friday and a full crew is expected early next week. A local wood workers union has formed in akefield township with by laws for mutual benefit, unaffiliated with CIO or AFL. Pickets blocked roads and questioned returning workers while no strikers halted operations. Sawing awaits logs from the woods and wood lot activity remains limited.

Returns From Lansing For Princeton Death in Law

Dr A W Colberg left Lansing Friday noon for Princeton after the death of his father in law Frank Paris. Mrs Colberg has been a Princeton for several days. He returned Friday morning from Lansing where he represented the city at conferences on Chaney Lake road construction. A formal levy will be made to the city commission at the next meeting. Colberg said the state highway department is willing to take over the mileage and complete the job when funds become available.

Ogema Luther League Opens Annual District Meeting

The Ogema district Luther League opened Friday morning at Immanuel Lutheran church. Sessions run through Sunday with a devotional by Rev. Albert Hemming, Bible study by Dr. Otto H. Bostrom, business sessions, a Saturday picnic, and Sunday worship by Rev. Oscar Lund. Delegates meet at 2:15 p.m. for program and a slide lecture by Mr. Anderson featuring photos from Sekow Theological Seminary in China.

Young People's Concert At Finnish Church Sunday

The Young People's Association of the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran church sponsors a concert at the church on Sunday June 13 at 7 30 p m. The program includes Welcome Address by Rev Nilo Korhonen and performances by the Young People's choir and Girls choir with piano numbers and instrumental pieces. Benediction by Rev Korhonen. The Young People's choir is directed by Miss Ellen Haanpaa and the Girls choir by Miss Illa Bjorkquist. Mrs James McGraw and son Chester travel to Kalamazoo for Western State College commencement where Miss Margaret McGraw will graduate next week.
