Descriptive Beauty of the Porcupines and Carp River Area
Wakefield News outlines a rugged Michigan wilderness along Lake Superior, detailing the Carp river’s trout water lineage from Lake of the Clouds to the lake. It notes a roadless, remote river corridor, beaver and wildlife tracks, and two cabins at the mouth used by Trout fishermen and Save the Porcupines activists, with park-purchase efforts shaping access and stewardship.

Wakefield Boys In Service Thank Wakefield News From New Guinea
Pfc John Smolich writes from New Guinea thanking Wakefield readers for the Wakefield News. He lists local soldiers Red Gilbert Wilbert Pikka Ben Desonia and Ed Blaskowski in his unit and notes the camp is fine but there is no place like Wakefield. He asks for the address to be updated for future papers. Meanwhile Ironwood city commission deadlocked over a proposed gas rate increase after a split vote. Marander and Sawyer supported the raise while Stenholm and Bulinski opposed it.
