Memorial Day Services Honor Fallen Heroes in City
Memorial Day services were held Thursday to honor those who died defending the country. A program at the Community Building by the American Legion and Auxiliary included prayers, singing, band music, a recitation by Fred Tillis, and an address by Mr. Bemer who traced the day to Civil War origins and the May 30 date adopted nationwide. A service at the foot of Sunday Lake then recognized sailors and Marines, followed by a parade with multiple civic groups, ending at the cemetery to honor the soldier dead.

Firemen Discuss Tourney Plans for Ishpeming Convention
The Up per Peninsula Firemen's association executive committee met with Chief Trembath to plan the racing program for the annual convention in Ishpeming in July. The full schedule is not ready but several new events will be added. Graduation to Honor 29 Pupils This Year

Three Killed in Ironwood Railroad Crossing Crash
A car carrying Mr and Mrs John Hooper and their three year old granddaughter Caye Gunderson was struck by a Seo Line train at Lake Street Ironwood crossing.
