Knights of Columbus Picnic Set for August 5 at Eddy Park

The Knights of Columbus invite members and guests to a Sunday picnic at Eddy Park Pavilion near Sunday Lake on August 5. Serving starts at noon with bar baked chicken spaghetti salad buns coffee ice cream and refreshments at 1.25 per plate. Tickets available at Kingsmuth Hardware Ziggy's Food Shop and Charlie's Alert Service Station and must be purchased by July 28.

Named Superintendent at Grants New Mexico Mine

Rod Tregembo, formerly mining captain at the Sunday Lake Mine, is appointed mine superintendent of the Section 24 mine in Grants New Mexico. The move follows Kerr-McGe Oil Industries Inc subsidiary Kerman Nuclear Fuels Corp reorganizations. Tregembo moved from the area after Sunday Lake operations ceased and failed attempts to secure working capital and contracts. He is the brother of Mrs. A James Gilbert of this city.

Lydia Circle to Meet

The Lydia Circle of the First Lutheran Church will meet at the Gust Wourinen home on August 1 at 1 30 p m. The Wakefield Woman's Club Board of Directors will meet on August 8 at 7 30 p m in the Woman's club rooms at the Community building. This includes all officers and directors.

Patricia Ann Kurta Weds Garland Gabbard in Pontiac

Mrs Elsie Kurta announces the marriage of her daughter Patricia Ann to Garland Gabbard of Pontiac. The ceremony was held Saturday morning at the bride’s home. Patricia is a Wakefield High School graduate and nurse at Northern Michigan College Marquette General Hospital. Garland works at the Tool and Die Company in Pontiac. They will reside in Lake Orion near Pontiac.

Wakefield Man to Receive MA at MTU Summer Commencement

Will receive the master of arts degree at Northern Michigan College Marquette on Friday at 2 p m. July 27. 64 bachelor degree recipients and 44 master of arts candidates to be honored. Mobile X-Ray Clinic Ends Wakefield Run Then Heads to Bessemer

The Michigan Department of Health X-ray Unit completed a three day clinic in Wakefield with 784 X-rays and 789 blood tests performed. Chest X-ray results will arrive in three to six weeks after film development. Blood test results trigger physician notification if diseases are detected. Volunteer workers are listed, with multiple helpers named across three days. Free X-ray and blood testing is available in Bessemer or Tronwood for those who missed Wakefield.

Gogebic Hospital to Expand in Wakefield Project

The Gogebic Hospital in the former Wico School building plans a seven hundred thousand dollar addition funded by Hill Burton Federal funds and a county bond issue. Ground breaking occurred with wide community participation and completion is planned for September 1963, adding 80 beds and new therapy departments.
