In Yugoslavia near the village of Chup, workers unearth a petrified prehistoric man skeleton said to reach 45 feet in height. The remains were buried 20 feet underground during railroad construction and will be sent to the national museum. teeth reportedly measure 18 inches.
After months of planning Santa Barbara County has begun breeding ladybugs to sell to lemon growers. An insectary was built to propagate the beneficial insects to combat the mealybug threatening Carpinteria lemon groves and potentially spreading countywide.
Baltimore reported Dr. John ae Abel of Johns Hopkins medical school announced a tartrate compound from cattle pituitary gland used in obstetrics and diabetes insipidus. One ounce could turn water in a New York to San Francisco pipeline. Abel aims to isolate a pure principle for precise study, following epinephrine work.
Chatham Paul Hengerveld a pure bred Holstein bull born July 16 1928 will be awarded as a prize to the best farmer judge of dairy cows entering the Dairy Judging Contest. The bull has strong breeding back and good individual points with a record of 15798.6 pounds milk and 527.72 pounds butterfat on a 560 day test. Shown as a type animal in the Clovelland Dairy Special, Chatham's Paul is sired by Canterbury Legis Beets No 237625 a Newberry State Hospital bred bull. The event, part of a big Aug 9 picnic at the Station, aims to attract organized county teams. Rules are available from Dairy Extension Specialist J G Wells Jr at Marquette Michigan. The contest is open to qualifying farmers with dairy herds and Calf Club members who have reached manhood and own or operate a farm with cows. Also noted are social plans for the big gathering and local visits.
Claudi Neal forty and Nancy A ie see forty obtained a marriage license in Kansas City. Two weeks later Neal’s son Joy married Dora Piersee’s daughter. The weddings bring a family alliance in the local scene.
The R. Connor Co a large timber holder in Wakefield Marenisco and Tronwood plans cutting its timber and may issue bonds to build a railroad from Wakefield to serve the company. Logs will be shipped to Stratford and Marshfield Wisconsin mills for sawing and cracking with construction slated to begin soon to start log shipments this winter.
Ernest Young of Van Attchison claims the Kansas record for long residence in one house. He is seventy three years old and has lived in the same home for most of that time. He has never paid a penny to a moving van driver.
Pueblo postal authorities and city detectives identified two nine year old boys as responsible for recent post office thefts. The boys led investigators to a hiding place and showed a pile of ashes they claimed were burned checks and papers.
Dr James H Eddy Wakefield’s first resident physician died at his Los Angeles home Thursday at age 69 after years of failing health. He came to Wakefield in 1888 and ran the town’s hospital for two decades. He moved to California in 1915 with his wife and funeral services are planned at the family home in Los Angeles with interment there.

The report lists 200 plus cities, detailing net bonded debt and per capita debt as of January 1, 1924, with city by city variations from about 11 dollars to nearly 200 dollars per person.
