Two Ironwood youths die in Lake Gogebic crash
James Pierpont 19 was killed instantly and David Pierpont 23 died at Grand Forks Hospital after their car flipped on the Lake Gogebic shore road two miles north of Alligator Tavern. Robert Johnson 25 and John Angst 20 were injured. Angst drove at high speed attempting to pass. The accident occurred when gravel on the shoulder caused loss of control, car rolled five times, and momentum destroyed the vehicle.

Savinski rites held for Wakefield resident
Funeral services were held Tuesday from St Marys Church for Frank Savinski known as Spike. He died after a sudden relapse at the airfield hospital following pneumonia. A Wakefield mine employee since 1915 he lived in Wakefield 25 years and is survived by a widow three sons Lawrence Frank Jr and Robert two daughters and several siblings.

Revised WPA schedule now in effect in Gogebic county
The new 130 hour WPA regulation and four wage schedules take effect July 1 8 11 and 14 from the county WPA headquarters. It sets four classifications unskilled intermediate skilled and professional with a maximum of eight hours per day and 40 per week. Exemptions require state director approval to protect work make up lost time or in emergencies. Security wage rates are 34 39 40 and 53 cents per hour respectively for unskilled intermediate skilled and professional.

Uniform Regulations Adopted For Highways
State acts will ban angle parking on all city and village streets on state highways starting September 29, 1939.
