Man Killed at Plymouth in Locomotive Accident
A 43-year-old car trimmer Peter Norvich was killed instantly when he slipped under a locomotive tender at Plymouth Mining’s open pit. He had just finished trimming ore from the last loaded car and apparently lost balance while alighting. An inquest will be held at Neidhold parlors. Norvich, a single man with no relatives here, leaves a brother in Austria.

City Taxes Collected By City Treasurer
The sum of 15076.76 in city taxes had been collected by William Jacobson, city treasurer, up to July 19. The total number who have paid their taxes for the year is 248. The mining companies, large taxpayers, have not yet paid their assessments and will wait until the final day before the additional rate of one per cent for collection is effective. They will pay about 185000 in city taxes. After August 1, two per cent will be added as a collection fee, increasing one per cent each month until January 9.

Tar for Streets Arrives for City Paving Work

Connor Office Complex Under Construction Near Thomas ton
Construction has begun on a new R. Connor company office at Camp 1 location three miles north of Thomas ton. The building will feature a concrete basement and serve as headquarters and storeroom for woods operations. About a week remains to complete the crane work. The company employs nearly 250 workers in wood cutting and construction. Approximately thirty miles of railroad link Connorville to the Black River area, with plans to extend toward the county park near the Presque Isle river mouth. A new locomotive was added to the Connerville and Lake Superior Railroad, giving two standard engines for track work. Borth and Seering plan four miles of logging railroad this summer to haul logs to Connorville via C. U. S. railroad.

Young man injured when car turns over near Hurley
