Range Rangings City Gets Fat Income Tax Check
Hurley received 9094.44 from the county treasurer as its share of income tax collections through July 1, plus 2533.09 earlier in the year, totaling 11627.53. Iron River Man To Investigate Malt Buyers

County finances seek relief via state borrowing plan
Prosecuting attorney W F Pellow said relief from the present financial stringency is possible as county officials attended a Lansing meeting of state prosecutors. A new state law may allow the county to borrow funds in anticipation of taxes, potentially about 150000, with a board composed of the attorney general auditor general and secretary to grant funds and issue promissory notes. A special board meeting Monday will consider resolutions prepared by Pellow. Building and Loan Grows At Steady Rate
Since 1831 eight million homes have been financed through Building and Loan institutions. There are 12 000 associations in the United States with assets totaling nine billion dollars and about three million families using the plan. On July first the Detroit and Northern Michigan Building and Loan association paid dividends exceeding two hundred thousand dollars to members.
