Free Dental Clinics To Aid Needy Michigan Children
The Children's Fund of Michigan plans twenty more county dental clinics for twelve weeks in summer 1981 to help preschool and school age children whose families cannot afford care. Clinics will operate in Gogebic, Marenisco, and Ironwood from June 29 to Sept 21 1931 with a county advisory committee guiding the program. Eligible children receive examinations and treatment at no cost, funded through the fund.

Venetian Night Parade Highlights July Fourth Celebration
A first of its kind Venetian night parade will close the town’s July 4th celebration, with over 20 decorated boats illuminated by lanterns and flares. Large City Tax Levy Set For July Collection
A July tax of $216,838.51 will be collected by the city commission for the coming year. The levy includes $186,370 general city tax and $30,000 for improvements. The five largest taxpayers will pay about 95 percent of the total, including $90,162.68 from the biggest taxpayer. The tax rate is $17.90 per thousand, with $15.33 for city assessment and a $504 emergency appropriation. A 1 percent collection fee applies, plus an additional 1 percent each month through January 1932.

Ten year old swimmer saves drowning boy at the lake
Jack Nelson aged 10 earned praise after he used first aid to help fellow student David Yan who disappeared beneath the Puritan Lake slide. Iron Ore Consumption Shows No Gain
May Lake Superior iron ore consumption fell to 2,674,758 gross tons from 2,825,647 the prior month, a drop of 150,889 tons. By June 1 stockpiles stood at furnaces and docks totaling 27,114,747 tons, versus 21,324,837 a year earlier, with Lake Erie docks holding 5,147,102 tons.
