Annual Meeting at First Lutheran Church
The annual meeting of First Lutheran Church was held last Thursday evening. Pastor Kemppainen reported on 1964 events highlighting the ground breaking for a new parish education building on July 19 with John Kuivinen present. Ground breaking for the building is set for dedication March 28 with notable visitors including Rev Dr Erkki Kurki-Suonio and Rev Erland Carlson. The church observed its 75th anniversary in 1965 and plans for a Diamond Jubilee were approved. Five members were elected to the Church Council for terms of three and one year.

Alvin Jarvinen will speak on the Career Guidance Rally set for Feb 20 at Sharon Lutheran Church in Bessemer. Joint planning committees from multiple Ironwood Lutheran churches arranged the event. lunch will be served after the meeting.

Attendants wore moss green and ivory frocks while a white carnation and gladioli arch framed the altar. A reception followed at the Elks Club in Bessemer with family members and many guests.

Winter Visit Delights Two Cleveland Guests at Wakefield
Miss Pauline Paciorek and Miss Karen Bronkow, guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Mayer, spent their first trip to the Wakefield area. A Cleveland flight diverted to Minneapolis due to weather, with Duluth pickup for arrival. The two enjoyed skiing and skating despite jet lag and difficult meals, cherishing the experience.

Wakefield VFW Fishing Contest Set For Sunday Lake
The Wakefield VFW Post 9084 sponsors its seventh annual fishing contest at Sunday Lake on Sunday January 31 from 1 4 pm. Prizes go to the first second and third largest fish and a special prize for the smallest. Lunch will be served in Post quarters all day. If weather is poor the event moves to February 7. Mr and Mrs Zigmund Urbanski and Mrs Frank Urbanski depart Friday for Milwaukee to attend a wedding Saturday.
