Rites For First Overseas Dead Next Thursday
A Wakefield resident who died from wounds in Germany on March 5, 1945 is to be laid to rest next Thursday. The body will be moved to the Frick Funeral Home and kept there until funeral rites. He enlisted in May 1944, trained at Camp Stewart and Fort Jackson, shipped overseas in November 1944 with the 36th Armored Division under Gen Hodges. His Wakefield friend Ted Golembinski was with him until February 6, 1945 when he was wounded. The deceased, born December 11, 1919, graduated from local schools in 1938 and worked for Connor Lumber and Land Co and Sunday Lake Iron Co before induction. He is survived by family in Wakefield.
