Indianhead Mountain shifts to summer and fall business with expanded lodge facilities. Two new tennis courts, expanded meeting space, and a golf and racquet club will offer instruction. lodge guests and nearby homeowners gain pool, saunas, golf, and tennis access. Wakefield Mother-Daughter Kidney Transplant at UM Hospital
Mrs. Robert Linn and her daughter Mrs. Bernice Duray of Wakefield became the city’s first mother daughter kidney transplant recipients. The operation occurred January 6 at University of Minnesota Hospital Minneapolis. Duray spent 10 days hospitalized and Linn returned home February 3. Both are doing well with ongoing follow ups.

Funeral Services Held for Mrs Oscar Kumpula 83
Mrs. Oscar Kumpula age 83 of Wakefield died Wednesday at Gogebic Medical Care Facility after a 13 month stay. Born Mary Bylkas January 17 1889 in Calumet she married Oscar Kumpula in 1910. they ran Kumplla grocery in Wakefield until retirement. She is survived by son Alvin Kumpula daughter Mrs John Street London England three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral 1 pm at First Lutheran with Rev Wayne Kuusisto officiating burial Lakeside Cemetery pallbearers named Harold Niemi Alf Wacker Dan Hhernich Wilbert Joki Nels Luoma Alan Wacker.
