Wakefield and its school system contributed $638.29 to the March of Dimes campaign. Carl Maki announced the total as he thanked the community for the effort. The Mothers March, led by Mrs. Oreste Bruno and Mrs. Fred Williams, collected and listed marchers, with funds turned over to Donald Brown in Ironwood.

Mrs Donald Wilta of Whe Locations was feted with a pink and blue shower on February 19 at 7 30 p m at the home of Mrs Robert Wilta. Guests played games and prizes were awarded including a door prize to Mrs Al Doney. After social hour lunch followed around a floral centerpiece with miniature baby dolls and storks. Two cakes in pink and blue finished the theme. The honored guest received many gifts hosted by Mrs Robert Willa Mrs June Brown and Mrs William Tilton.

John Evanoff Former Resident Died in Ontonagon
John Evanoff age 45 died Friday evening at Ontonagon Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Born in Wakefield March 20 1922 he attended Wakefield High School and served three years in the Navy in the South Pacific. Survived by mother Frances Evanoff brother Ted and sister Mrs Chester Siem all of Ontonagon. Funeral Monday at 9 Holy Family Catholic Church with interment at Lakeside Cemetery Wakefield.
