Continue Adult Machine Classes in Wakefield High School
The Wakefield adult education program extends its six week course on repair operation and construction of farm machinery for another six weeks. Classes meet Monday and Thursday evenings from 7 to 10 in the Industrial Arts department. Enrollments welcomed Monday Feb 21 or Thursday Feb 24. Instructors are P. J Petranek and C. E. Milbrath. Workers learn tool sharpening sheet metal work forge oxy acetylene and welding techniques.

Lansing committee seeks 15000 acre tax lands in state forest
Louis Mezzano of the county board of supervisors conservation committee is in Lansing with the committee this week aiming to acquire 15000 acres of tax delinquent lands that have reverted to the state as a county forest. Advices say the committee met success. Finnish Church to Dedicate Honor Roll Feb 20

Club Women Hear Talk On South America
The Woman's club met Wednesday evening with theme Our South American Neighbors. Miss Phyllis Picchta chaired the international relations committee and showed a film on Ecuador and other South American scenes. Mrs Evar Forslund, formerly Ella Nikula, spoke of Peru and Brazil where her husband works in mining. The Forslunds lived on a 16000 foot plateau near the Andes. Nancy and Marion Forslund sang in Spanish. Prizes were awarded for bridge and high scores, with Mary MacDonald pouring at a patriotic centerpiece. The next meeting is March 1 with a conservation and history program led by Mrs Robert Burns.

Miss Collins Hired In Place Of Resigning Instructor
Miss June Kiser, an instructor at Central school, has resigned and the board of education accepted the resignation Monday evening. She will be replaced by Miss Ruth Collins, daughter of Mrs. Mabel Collins of the city. Collins, raised here, recently worked in Chicago after graduating from local schools and Superior State Teachers College. President Clarence Jacobson reported on a Marquette school officials meeting. The board approved Miss Eve Autere to teach vocal music while Miss Helen Taliakson continues as director of instrumental music.

Wakefield honors local servicemen with a large lighted honor roll on city hall grounds listing over 600 men and women now in service. The township contributed to place the roll in a central location for visibility. A bronze plaque will follow after the war when materials allow.

City approves 10 week pool reopening contract
With four members present the city commission approves a 10 week pool reopening contract starting February 28 jointly funded by both parties. The pool will operate 9 am to 3 45 pm daily except Sunday and include adult swimming classes in swimming and life saving as part of a mandatory government education program.
