Wakefield voters will decide a proposal to borrow up to 407000 dollars to fund part of a sewage disposal facility project. Polls open 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at City Hall with prior public hearing held February 8 at the high school music auditorium.
Waino I Salo 69 of Thomaston died Thursday at Divine Infant Hospital from a personal safety related gun shot wound. He was born in Finland and immigrated in 1910. Survived by wife Helmi, son Walter, and two grandchildren. Funeral held at Apostolic Lutheran Church Wakefield. Burial Lakeside Cemetery.
AE3 Roland Korpela US Navy is discharged and becomes a civilian on January 19 after four extra months of service. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Heino Korpela, plans to live in Orlando Florida, and will work for Reynolds Aluminum Can Co. He joined the Dale Carnegie course and aims to attend the Junior College nearby.
Walter Nunimaker of 301 Sunday Lake Street owner of Master Cleaners buys the former John the Tailor dry cleaning shop on Longyear Street in Bessemer from Mrs. John Cychosz. The business will be run jointly by Nunimaker and his wife with his Wakefield operation.
Mary Josephine Pensala 71 died February 8. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday February 11 at 2 p.m. at Lakeside Memorial Chapel.
Local notices report the Royal Winnipeg Ballet will perform at the Wakefield Motor Lodge Theatre on Wednesday February 16 at 8 00 p m. Other items note church meetings at First Lutheran and Immanuel Lutheran, a valentine lunch, and updates from Bethany Lutheran Church including officer elections and Pastor Miettinen attending a 12 week clinical pastoral education course at the University of Minnesota.
Janet Wahlberg, a Wisconsin State University junior and kindergarten prim ary major, is SSU's Sno-Week Sno-Queen candidate for 1966. The events feature a talent show skating party snow sculpture pancake contest beard contest and the Sno Ball finale. She is the daughter of Mr and Mrs V E Wahlberg of 1310 Hancock.
A going away party was held Friday at Mrs Chester Dillion's home after a basketball game to honor Chris Zuidmulder before his deployment to California for further orders. He is on emergency furlough from the Army. Hostesses included Rene Dillon Diana Polly and Mary Anderson. Mrs Celeste Buccanero and John Finco sustained broken arms from falls.
The Wakefield Rotary Club held a full attendance meeting at the Lakeview Inn. Guest speaker Michael Kageorge, superintendent of the Ottawa National Forest, updated members on forest plans including a land exchange that will add Black River Harbor Park to the National Forest. A film of skiing at Pine Mountain was shown.
The LCW of First Lutheran will meet Thursday February 17 with Mrs Bruno Saari in charge. The program topic is The Letters I Write and members are asked to bring a meaningful letter, one that is old or beautifully written and uplifting.

Academic Dean Sister Mary Odile of the College of St. Scholastica announced 35 students made the Dean's List for the first semester. Recipients posted a scholastic average of at least 2.5 with Wakefield newcomer Mary Gaik and senior Kathryn Ringsmuth named among honorees.
Arthur Frederickson, 81, died Tuesday February 8. Funeral services will be held Saturday February 12 at 2:00 PM at Wakefield Methodist Church. Recent visitors at the home of Mr and Mrs Xavier Zazeski included Mrs Sam Affrunti Rolland Lischalk and his fiancee Mary Bruning of Des Plaines Illinois.
The Wakefield City Council designates March 9 as the opening session for the 1966 Board of Review, delayed two days from the first Monday due to conflicts with a hospital election and a council meeting. Mayor Robert Linn leads the pledge. finances, bills, and multiple city reports are reviewed.
Funeral services for Gene Ray mond Mattila 15 of South Milwaukee and formerly Wakefield were held Tuesday at 2 pm at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Wallace Leno officiating. Burial followed at Lakeside Cemetery. Gene born September 25 1950 attended Wakefield Schools through seventh grade and was a ninth grader at South Milwaukee Junior High when he died Friday night after a long illness. He is survived by his parents a brother Richard paternal grandparents Hugo Mattila Wakefield and maternal grandparents Tauno Nordine Wakefield.
