Wakefield priest sworn as Air Force First Lieutenant
Maj. Gen. Roy M. Terry swore in Rev. James A. Kaczmarek son of Mr and Mrs Stanley Kaczmarek Sr of Wakefield as a First Lieutenant in the Air Force at an ecumenical dinner with bishops and church leaders. Darrow an 87 year old formerly of Valentine LaGrange County Indiana died Sunday at Divine Infant Hospital after a stay since January 16 She was born Bertha Caldwell Feb 12 1885 and lived in Valentine Wayland Michigan Grand Rapids Wakefield In 1966 She married Clancy Darrow in 1904 in Valentine He died July 19 1937 Surviving are son Glen C Wakefield two grandchildren eight great grandchildren three brothers and two sisters Funeral services were at Carney Brothers Funeral Home LaGrange with Rev J Wilbur Yates officiating and burial in Greenwood Cemetery LaGrange

Linnea Marie Torkko Mackie born in 1896 Finland arrived 1908 to the United States. She married William O. Mackie in 1915 and lived in Wakefield. Wakefield Pioneer Ernest Carr Dies at 80 at Home
Ernest Edward Carr 80 a Wakefield pioneer died Sunday at his home in Brotherton. Born April 22 1892 in Lapua Finland he came to the U S in 1899 and educated himself. He played in the Wakefield city band 30 years and belonged to Tempus Athletic Club. He married Anna Sofia Rixey in 1915 and had a large family with 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at First Lutheran Church with entombment in Riverside Mausoleum Ironwood and spring burial planned at Lakeside Cemetery Wakefield.
