20 Miles of Road To Be Improved During Program
The proposed three year state highway construction plan for 1957 through 1959 totals 560 million dollars. Every county is included with 2 270 miles of improvement planned 800 miles will be multiple lane divided. The program features 25 miles of US 2 resurfacing west to Watersmeet and new bridges along Montreal River and Portage Lake linking Ironwood Hancock and Houghton county.

The 60 member Michigan State University Glee Club from East Lansing will give a concert at the Wakefield High School gymnasium on Wednesday March 27. Hosted by the MSU alumni association president Orlo Carlson and Wakefield Band Patrons' club president Mrs James Gilbert. Edward Richmond, club director, will hold a voice clinic the day of the concert and high school vocal groups may participate.

Geroux Post American Legion celebrated Old Timers Night with a recalled post history and lunch. Wakefield Legion No. 11, chartered in 1919, now has 150 members toward a 161 quota. a high school boy will be sent to the Wolverine State event in East Lansing June 20 to 27. The group also approved a Guy Wilson scholarship nomination for a son of a veteran and discussed forming a Sons of the Legion auxiliary if enough eligible boys join.
