Vidako vich earns expert rating for M-14 test at Ft Campbell

Army private John M. Vidako vich, 20, son of Mr and Mrs Nick Vidakovich of 909 Charles Wakefield, fired expert with the M 14 rifle near completing basic training at Ft Campbell Ky in January. The expert rating is the highest mark on the weapons qualification test.

Ojibway Center Keeps Open Amid Nationwide Job Corps Closures

Forest Supervisor Michael Kageorge announced that the Ojibway Job Corps Center near Marenisco will remain open despite closures of sixteen centers nationwide. Some staff and corpsmen from affected centers may transfer to Ojibway, with no further closures anticipated. The closures were an economy move by the Office of Economic Opportunity in cooperation with government agencies and private contractors.

Annual Meeting at First Lutheran Church Names New Members

About 40 members attended the annual meeting at First Lutheran Church on Thursday January 18. Carl Kleimola and Ben Hulme were reelected to the Church Council for three years, with Forrest Pikka and Leslie Wuorinen elected for new three year terms. The proposed $39,621 budget for 1968 was adopted, up $2,780 from the prior year, with the pastor’s salary raised by $480. A silent prayer honored those who died in 1967. Reports show receipts of $29,484.74 for operating and debt funds, with per member giving of $51.45. Michigan Tech awards for 19 draftsmen and 24 diesel mechanics

A ceremony at Michigan Technological University awarded 19 draftsmen and 24 diesel mechanics in special classes. Gerald J. Caspary coordinated the event held Friday January 26 with Prof Carmen Dalli Quadri as speaker and a student from each class delivering remarks. James E. Budck from Wakefield, a diesel graduate, was named a graduate speaker.
