Former Wakefield Miner Bernard Erickson Dies at 55
Bernard E. Erickson died Tuesday January 14 at Hepburn Hospital from coronary thrombosis after a two week illness. He was born in Wakefield and belonged to the Russell Masonic Lodge. Survived by wife from DeGrasse, sister Mildred E. Erickson of Chicago, three brothers, five sisters in Texas. Bearers included J H Reeder and others. honorary bearers listed as well.

Gogebic county reports sales tax receipts of 341651.11 for the fiscal year ending June 30 1945. World War II Hero Ernest W. Koskela Mourned in Wakefield
Lt. Ernest W. Koskela of Wakefield born June 28 1922 died in Stuttgart Germany on November 4 1945 in an airplane accident while serving with the 8th Air Force. He completed 22 missions, earned Air Medal and two oak leaf clusters, and was promoted to first lieutenant. Survived by a brother Oliver discharged from service.
